Thank you for this. I have been a James Barber fan of for I guess about 20 years. I first saw the Urban Peasant in NYC and when I moved out of state was unable to get the show but kept in touch via the net. I love that loft too and often cook the recipies. Miss that Jazz theme OH James!
Hi
Great to stumble on this site. Regrettably, none of the UK stations carry the Urban Peasant anymore. One did years ago. Used to watch it when I visited family in Vancouver. I love the recipies which I remember watching being created and it is sad to hear of his passing.Thankfully wikipedia provided the ISBN’s of his books. Again thanks for the ability to see the Urban Peasant in action via the Web.

I registered to join to look a recipes and the page won’t open.
It keeps coming back to registration page.
I was wondering if anyone knows if the Urban Peasant is on DVD and available for purchase? My boyfriend loves his show and im having difficulty locating them. Thank-you!
It is nice to have James Barber web Site up i will have it In My Favorite, Love His Show, I ve been a Fan of His Since 1995
Thank you for inspiring all of us. You are truly a genius when it comes to cooking. I’ll never forget you. Thanks…..
Thank you so much for posting this! Please update it soon with another episode! I cant get enough of James!
I really miss the old kitchen with James cooking. I watched during college and he helped me get over my fear of cooking and improvising. The salmon looks great, and as usual with most of James’ dishes there is next to no prep time. I hope to see more video recipes like this!
I’ve been having the same problem Delisa Smith had: the recipe page doesn’t open, just keeps opening the registration page in successively smaller frames. I tried emailing Media2o about it, but there’s been no reply. Hmm. :/
Love this! The Urban Peasant was one of my first cooking teachers. Please keep it coming.
just recently stumbled onto The Urban Peasant as James Barber was putting together a nice tasty looking meal. I cant find the cook books that can show me which cookbook has the receipt. i liked to find out which cookbooks would have those. would like to own his cookbook, It aired on June 24th about 3 a.m. , showing a salad with roasted pecans, chicken, sliced pearssliced strawberries etc, and amustard vinegar wine dressing, and in a skillet showed, grapes, figs, sausage cooking together, really looked healthy and i would like his cookbook showing those recepts. thanks
Just started watching James Barber on this new channel from the Dtv conversion, it is called ION Life, he always comes on late at night around midnite or one am. I started searching for his receipes, and discovered he is deceased, what a loss to the cooking world. I just love his talking and presentations. He cooks very healthy foods, I will be buying his cook books. Oh yes I am in the Sacramento area, good luck finding the ION channel. Peace and Love, All the Best!
I really like the new layout of the site. Salmon with Mango will be on my list of dinners to prepare next week. If any of these larger broadcasting stations had any wits about them, they’d pick up the show and air it midday. I know lots of people who just despise the cooks on TV now. I’ve pulled up a couple of clips of The Urban Peasant and voila, you have people smiling and getting energized about cooking for themselves. Again, love the new site and the updated content!
Rest in Peace James Barber. You have thought me a lot throughout watching you show. I just love it. Thank you.
I get hungry when I think of you, Oh James is what I can still here, God I loved that show the food he cooked and after work I looked forward to watching his show. I miss that type of program and may GOD bless him always.
I miss James! I’ve been watching him since I was a little kid! He got me interested in cooking.
When are you posting the next video?
i remember many years ago watching his show and he did a segment on lambchops sophia. i would love to see that episode again.
These videos on the Web are just great. I have been missing James Barber, the Urban Peasant, so much. While I have many of his books, there is just something about seeing him that is so relaxing and soothing…inspiring as well. Thank you so much for making them available.
What a great guy! I used to watch his tv show in 1996-1997, when it was aired in my country, Chile. I learned so much about cooking from him then… He showed me how fun it can be, and easy! I am very happy to have this new website, because now that I am newlywed I can cook while I make his recipes and practice his tips in the kitchen.
Here I am back again. Missing this guy, wish they would air his shows again, so many folks a missing what he had to offer.
Guess we’ll have salmon with mango this weekend thanks to Mr. Barber. Oh James, I still love that loft!
My autistic son is a major fan of James Barber and has been asking me for DVDs of this wonderful man’s show ever since his show stopped appearing on TV. Does anyone know if DVDs exist and can be purchased? I’d love to surprise my son for Christmas.
